No Excuses | Part 2: How to Stop Making Excuses for Good

The first step towards improving your life and getting rid of the terrible habit of constantly making excuses is by acknowledging that you are doing this to yourself.

 

Once you are aware of this and you accept it as a negative influence over your life, then you can really start making some changes.

 

Let’s go over some things that you need to practice if you truly want to stop with the excuses:

 

  1. Embrace Fear and Failure

 

Fear and failure are things that are bound to occur at some point or another. So, instead of constantly trying to steer clear of them, make sure that when they pop up you are ready to get back up and try again.

 

  1. Don’t Overthink

 

Overthinking is often the first crucial mistake that we make when we’re confronted with a decision. We tend to overthink things until we eventually just give up and make an excuse instead. I challenge you to work on taking more risks and just trusting your gut feeling.

 

  1. Don’t Compare Yourself to Others

 

You are unique, and that’s something to embrace and celebrate! Let people say whatever they want; as long as you’re at peace with yourself, you won’t be needing any excuses.

 

  1. Change Your Habits

 

Your habits dictate the course of your life. The better they are, the less excuses you tend to use in your life. Once you start changing your life, you will then see a massive difference and you will feel much better.

 

  1. Stay Realistic

 

To get rid of the excuses, you need to have goals. But, as I previously said, keep them realistic and attainable. Even small goals can bring you huge changes. The key is to keep pushing and never give up.

 

  1. Stop Blaming Others and Take Responsibility for Your Actions

 

It’s no one’s fault that things are not working the way you want them to. It’s your fault, and the result of your own behavior. You need to accept this and take responsibility instead of dwelling on your own mistakes.

 

Don’t let your “later” become “never”, or your “maybe” to become a “no”. The sooner you realize that you have the potential to make things right and lead a much better and fulfilled life, the better things will turn out for you.

 

Next time when you’re faced with a situation where you’re required to take action — whether it be something small or monumental — think of how much you can actually achieve; and just do it! Excuses won’t get you anywhere in life, so stop relying on them!
